The side menu

Most WordPress themes include a side menu (usually on the right, but may also be on the left). This menu often includes:

  • Recent posts
  • Post categories
  • Recent comments
  • Links
  • “Meta” which includes login and other WordPress links.

You can change this menu in almost any way you want,  and the most common way to make changes here is through adding Widgets through the Appearance menu.

Widgets

Common widgets you might use include:

  • A search box
  • RSS feed links
  • Rotating small photos of your last meeting
  • etc.
